DRS to provide infrared detectors to U.S. Army

17 Jun 2002

DRS Technologies, Inc. (Parsippany, New Jersey) has received a contract from the U.S. Army to produce Standard Advanced Dewar Assemblies Type II (SADA II) infrared detectors for the tracking and imaging systems on a variety of platforms, including the M2A3 Bradley and M1A2 Abrams vehicles. The work on the $6.6 million contract will be performed by DRS's Infrared Technologies unit in Dallas, Texas. SADA II is a second-generation passive infrared sensor assembly which utilizes a 480 x 5 focal plane array to receive incoming infrared energy and convert it to electrical analog output.
