Fleet Space Theater becomes Fleet Science Center

San Diego's Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater is now the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, reflecting a change in emphasis for the museum and planetarium. The change, recognized by a dedication May 30, includes increasing the building's square footage from 44,100 to 93,505, including an increase in the exhibit gallery from 8,500 to 20,000 square feet. The improvements also add the SimEx Virtual Voyages simulator to the center and move the Challenger Learning Center from an area middle school to the museum facility.
