L-3 awarded telemetry monitoring contract for Thuraya

The Telemetry and Instrumentation division of L-3 Communications has been given a contract to supply six Windows NT NeTstar systems to Hughes Space and Communications as part of a contract for a mobile satellite system Hughes is building for Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company. The NeTstar systems will be used for payload commanding and telemetry monitoring of the system which will provide mobile personal communications services for the Middle East, Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent, North Africa, and Eastern Europe. The award is valued at $773,000 with a total potential of $1.11 million.
