Mitsubishi America, Texas Instruments to team on projection televisions

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America (Irvine, California) and Texas Instruments Incorporated (Dallas, Texas) announced an agreement in which Mitsubishi projection televisions will be produced using Texas Instrument's Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology. The fully digital display technology will replace cathode ray tubes in many future Mitsubishi projection television models. The first completely digital television using DLP is expected in late 2000.
