The Lockheed Martin Company subsidiary of Sanders (Nashua, New Hampshire) has successfully completed the first airborne fast-deploy test of production representative fiberoptic towed decoys (FOTD) and their launch canisters. During the mid-April testing mass model decoys were ejected from their airborne launch canisters, and success of the test was measured by the ability of the decoys to deploy on their tow lines at pre-designated distances. The FOTDs and canisters are being developed as part of Sanders' Integrated Defense Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) Radio Frequency Countermeasures (RFCM) program which is expected to be installed in U.S. military aircraft in 2003.
