Aerojet delivers final DSP sensor

GenCorp Aerojet delivered the final sensor for the Defense Support Program August 19. Support and retrofitting contracts will continue the 28-year relationship between Aerojet and the detection system inaugurated in 1970. Sensor 23 was delivered at a lower per-sensor cost than any of the previous 22 infrared sensors; TRW will integrate the sensor with the rest of the DSP satellite. The Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) High will soon replace the DSP.
