DigiLens of Sunnyvale, California, has announced a fourth round of funding totalling USD 40 million. The capital will expand the company's US and European R&D of its electrically switchable Bragg grating (ESBG) technology, including the construction of telecommunications component packaging plants on both continents. Crescendo Ventures led the round with BCI Partners and Vision Capital.
DigiLens recently demonstrated a two-channel "dynamic spectral equalizer" active optical component that allows the real-time adjustment of power distribution within a dense wavelength division multiplexed system. The ESBG technology is a switchable version of the industry-standard fibre Bragg gratings currently used in telecommunications. ESBG technology is wavelength selective and removes the need for the multiplex and demultiplex layer for system integrators.
