SPIE has a new executive director

Eugene Arthurs, formally the president of Cleveland Crystals, will be the new executive director of SPIE from 1 November 1999. He takes over from James Pearson who resigned in February 1999 to become executive director at the Instrument Society of America. In the interim period, Marshall Weathersby of the SPIE staff was acting executive director.
