Lasermet, of the UK, has launched a laser protection advisory service for laser safety officers. European directive EN 60825-1 requires that companies that work with Class 3B and Class 4 lasers have a laser safety officer with skills and training to quantify hazards, assess risks and propose control measures. According to Lasermet, this level of training is very expensive. The new service offers telephone advice and an annual safety audit.
