NP Photonic Technologies receives SBIR for optical communication development

NP Photonic Technologies (Tucson, Arizona) has received a $750,000 Small Business Innivation Research award from the Deaprtment of Defense to continue development of new fiberoptic components which will help meet the demand for faster data transmission to commercial and military communication systems. The Er3+ doped glass fiber for fiber amplifiers and lossless beamsplitter for optical communication networks will likely provide communication at lower cost with a gain per unit length of 1.54 microns.
