EG&G Astrophysics to Provide X-ray Systems to U.S. Customs

EG&G Astrophysics, the Long Beach, California, subsidiary of EG&G, Inc. (Wellesley, Massachusetts), has received an award from the United States Customs Service to provide its MOBIX mobile truck X-ray systems. MOBIX, which obtains high-resolution imaging at 450 Kv, is designed to screen vehicles up to 14 1/2 feet high and 10 1/2 feet wide and includes operator assist, image archiving, and threat image projection. The systems will be deployed at all points of entry and the first unit will be delivered in the latter part of 1999.
