PRI Automation to Acquire Promis Systems

PRI Automation, Inc. (Billerica, Massachusetts) has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Promis Systems Corporation Ltd. (Toronto, Canada). The acquisition is contingent upon shareholder and regulatory approval but is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 1999. PRI Automation supplies factory automation systems for semiconductor manufacturers while Promis develops and manufactures execution systems and automation solutions to semiconductor and precision electronics manufacturers.
