Philips, EPIX, Mallinckrodt will collaborate to develop advanced MRI technology

Philips Medical Systems (Best, The Netherlands), EPIX Medical (Cambridge, Massachusetts), and Mallinckrodt, Inc. (St. Louis, Missouri) have announced a collaboration to advance the development of contrast-based cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologies. The collaboration will use the contrast agent AngioMARK and is intended to lead to the development of non-invasive, cost-effective methods to diagnose atherosclerosis and associated cardiovascular disease. The non-exclusive collaboration will combine resources to optimize imaging technology and to improve visualization of arteries and veins in patients undergoing magnetic resonance angiography procedures.
