Laserscope divests hospital equipment business to focus on laser systems

Laserscope (San Jose, California) has sold its hospital equipment business to Heraeus Medical, Inc., a division of Heraeus Holding, GmbH (Hanau, Germany). Divesting itself of Ascent Medical Systems, which Laserscope had acquired after the 1996 purchase of another Heraeus subsidiary, Heraeus Surgical Inc., returns Laserscope to a pure laser company.
