OLED inventors win Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award

The inventors of the Multicolor Organic Light Emitting Devices (OLED) flat panel display technology have received the 1998 Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award from the Research and Development Council of New Jersey. Honored were Dr. Stephen Forrest and Dr. Paul Burrows of Princeton University (Princeton, New Jersey) and Dr. Mark Thompson of the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, California). The patent for technology covering a vertically stacked organic light emitting device received a U.S. Patent in January issued to Princeton University with licensing handled by Universal Display Corporation (Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania).
