Researcher Manfred Prantl of the Technical University of Graz won the UK International Vision Association's 200 pound prize for the best demonstration of computer vision at the ninth British Machine Vision Conference held at Southampton University last month. A colleague in a Graz laboratory placed a model car on a turntable in front of a camera connected to a vision system, which made a first estimate to determine the proper angle before automatically rotating the object and providing transmission back to Southampton in a matter of seconds.
