The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence has awarded a contract to Cubic Defense Systems, Inc. (San Diego, California, United States) for two combat training systems for the British Army. The award for the Area Weapons Effect Simulator, which simulates all area weapons effects on a training battlefield and also tracks and monitors individual soldiers and combat vehicles, includes design, manufacture, and delivery of approximately 2,500 units of the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System, or MILES 2000. The systems will be located at the Salisbury Plain Training Area in the United Kingdom and the British Army Training Unit in Suffield, Alberta, Canada.
