Digital Teleport awards $240 million to Pirelli for fiberoptic contracts

Digital Teleport Inc. has awarded two contracts to Pirelli Cables and Systems to supply fiberoptic cable and WDM equipment to DTI for its planned coast-to-coast network. The three-year contract for wavelength division multiplexing equipment is valued at $100 million and the two-year contract for fiberoptic cable is worth $140 million. The cable and WDM equipment will be used in DTI's digital fiberoptic network comprising about 18,500 miles in the United States.
