Raytheon awarded Phase II contract for vehicle location

Raytheon Systems Company has received a contract from the Detroit area's Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) for the installation of Phase II of the SMART Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location project. Phase II will expand the system to include voice, data, automatic vehicle location, and route and schedule adherence capabilities. The project will allow dispatch to rely heavily on GPS-provided location and data messaging supplemented by voice communications.
