Quantum Magnetics awarded $1.45 million for detection technology research

17 Jun 2002

Quantum Magnetics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of InVision Technologies, Inc., has received three research awards worth $1.45 million to develop new passive magnetic sensor technology capable of detecting the presence of metallic objects. The technology to detect mines, concealed weapons, underground structures, and heavy equipment will allow location of their position in three dimensions and the tracking of their movements in real time. Quantum Magnetics will receive $750,000 from the Office of the Secretary of Defense (administered by the Naval Coastal Systems Station), $45,000 from the National Institute of Justice, and $250,000 from the Air Force Geophysical Laboratory.
