Vivid receives first Italian order for explosive detection system

Vivid Technologies, Inc., received its first order from Italy for its automated explosive detection systems which detect plastic and other explosives in airline baggage, hand baggage, and parcels. A checked luggage screening system will be installed at Malpensa Airport near Milan. The purchase helps Italy's initiative to deploy systems in line with the European Civil Aviation Conference's goal that member states screen 100 percent of checked luggage by 2002.
