The Airports Authority of India has accepted the Air Traffic Control System for the Delhi Flight Information Region. The system, designed by Raytheon, extends radar coverage from 50 nautical miles to 256 nm and adds secondary radars which provide aircraft altitude information. Advanced radar and flight data processing identify aircraft on color displays by flight number. The system also provides warning of possible collisions or low altitudes and has automatic coordination between controllers.
