Telecom Italia to team with RAI for digital TV services

Telecom Italia and the Italian state broadcasting company RAI have signed a memorandum of understanding to form a company to create, supply, and distribute television and multimedia services in the digital pay television market. The venture would cover Italy but would also be aimed to extend to other markets within and outside Europe. Telecom Italia will hold 70 percent of the new company's shares whlie RAI will hold 30 percent.
