Emcore Corporation to purchase MicroOptical Devices

Emcore Corporation, which provides integrated compound semiconductor solutions, has announced the purchase of MicroOptical Devices, Inc., a manufacturer of microlasers and optical subsystems. The acquisition, at an estimated price of about $30 million, is expected to strengthen the development of vertical cavity surface-emitting laser (VSCEL) technology.
