Hologram sales expected to exceed $600 million

Worldwide hologram sales are expected to exceed $600 million this year, according to the 1997 Holo-pack Holo-print Industry Survey and MarketReport. Since 1992 embossed and display hologram sales have grown an average of over 30% annually while the number of commercially activehologram producers has grown from about 40 to over 300 and Asian producers have entered the market. Capital investment in the industry is approaching$1 billion, and 69% of companies responding to the survey reported profits for 1996. Display hologram sales are increasing rapidly and expected to reach$25 million in 1997, two-thirds of which will be from photopolymer display holograms. The report projects sales for the year 2002 to be between $2 and$3 billion.
