Cree Research sets record for blue-emitting laser operation

Cree Research, Inc., has operated a blue-emitting laser for over an hour, believed to be the longest period a blue-emitting laser has operated before burning out. The electrically pulsed, gallium nitrate-based, 403 nm semiconductor laser was tested in Cree Research's Durham, NC, laboratory.
