Friday the 13th may turn out to be bad luck for problems the photonics industry wishes to solve. Boston University's Photonics Center opened its $81 million facilityJune 13. The 285,000 square foot center will allow the university to work with industry partners to develop photonics-based products, and partnerships have alreadybeen arranged with a dozen companies.
