New Focus acquires Palo Alto Research

17 Jun 2002

New Focus has acquired the assets of Palo Alto Research (PAR) as well as their optical chopper product line. John Pease, president and founder of PAR, joins the New Focus team as an engineering manager.

"It has been an exciting eight years building PAR, but it is a relief to be able to work with a group of capable engineers on projects with adequate resources," Pease admitted. "I like the New Focus culture of openness and teamwork. I am committed to continuing to support the lock-in products."

"John brings significant electronics and instrument experience to New Focus," noted New Focus Chairman Milton Chang. "You can expect a rapid fire introduction of new instruments in the coming months." New Focus will continue to manufacture the PAR optical chopper, which offers high chopping frequency, harmonic chopping capability, and an IEEE-488 GPIB interface.
