Custom rulings are made directly into gold, which has been deposited on either a Copper, Invar, Ceramic or a Silicon substrate (although it is possible to work with other substrate materials).
In addition to the increase in efficiency exhibited (typically >/= 95%, peak, polarised) their resistance to degradation allows them to be used in high power applications that might otherwise damage gratings having a thin gold coating over aluminium, for example.
Gold gratings are offered in rulings from 70 to 450 grooves/mm, covering the optimum operational range of 4 to 12µm.
