08 Dec 2010 SiC is the standard material used in “solar blind” UV photodiodes because this material is UV sensitive and also very robust.
The new JEC1.6l photodiode has a chip size of 1.6mm2. At its peak, this photodiode achieves a signal gain of 50% and, at 230nm, of almost 100% compared to the JEC1, which has a chip size of 1.0mm2 assuming full illumination. Pricewise both photodiodes are comparable. The new version is preferably mounted as an insulated JEC1.6l. Upon request, UV-A, B, or C filters can be included as an optional extra.
