Aixtron and UDC pass OLED production milestone

German semiconductor equipment manufacturer Aixtron says that it is surprised at the short time it has taken to test its organic LED (OLED) manufacturing equipment using vapour pressure deposition tools on large-scale mother glass with customer Universal Display Corporation.

Aixtron says that the uniformity of blue, green and red OLED films surpassed expectations, and demonstrates the scalability of the technology, yielding bright light emission across full 6 x 6 inch panels.

Holger Juergensen, Aixtron president, says that the company has immediately initiated the next version equipment for second-generation mother glass applications.
