Swiss start-up spreads to three new sites.
Opto Speed , the 1995 optical InP chip spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, has expanded into three new locations.
The company has moved into a new corporate and packaging facility in Mezzovico, Switzerland. The headquarters has a 1500 sqm manufacturing plant with a Class 100,000 clean room.
In March Opto Speed will also open an R&D and marketing unit in Rome, which will incorporate the research group from the recently acquired Fondazione Ugo Bordoni.
In April the company will open another manufacturing and R&D centre at Rüschlikon near Zurich. It includes a 5000 m2 plant with Class 10,000 clean rooms and will have a capacity of 10 million optical chips a year, ramping up to 45 million within one year.
