US MEMS supplier opens office in Europe

17 Jun 2002

OMM of San Diego, California, a supplier of photonic switching subsystems that are based on MEMS technology has opened two new offices in Boston, Massachusetts, in the US, and Munich, Germany.

The company's European push will be headed by Bernd Runge, who joins OMM from Lucent Technologies' microelectronics group where he was Asia Pacific marketing director. OMM's European clients include Siemens and Alcatel. Michael Demeo, formerly with Intel and IBM, will head up OMM's East Coast operations.

Christian Lepiane, vice-president of sales at OMM, said: "Building a presence on the East Coast and Europe represents the natural next step in our business-development plans. OMM is the only supplier in the MEMs-based photonic-switch space that is shipping commercial products and we find demand in both the US and Europe."
