Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Under the USD 27.5 million deal, Geltech and its 104 employees will continue to operate from the company's existing facilities in Orlando and Auburn, California. Geltech manufactures precision-molded aspherical optics, which couple laser diode sources to fibers or waveguides for telecom applications. The company also makes sol-gel waveguides and recently launched a range of diffractive gratings and lens arrays for DWDM multiplexing - a market esimated to be worth USD 3.3 billion by 2003. LightPath will also assume Geltech's USD 1.7 million debt. Geltech chief operating officer Jean-Luc Nogues said: "There are no doubts that the combination of technologies, talents, expertise and resources will bring spectacular results."
