Lucent Technologies will buy SpecTran

Lucent Technologies has just signed an agreement to acquire SpecTran Corporation, a US manufacturer of optical fibre products. Lucent will pay about USD 64 million and will also assume USD 35 million in debt from SpecTran.

The transaction is expected to be complete by the end of September 1999.
