Raytheon to receive $38 million for helicopter IR laser detecting and ranging systems

Raytheon Company (Lexington, Massachusetts) has been awarded a $38 million production contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division (Crane, Indiana) for helicopter infrared laser detecting, ranging, and tracking sets. Raytheon will deliver 35 systems to be installed on the Navy's Light Airborne Multi-purpose System MK III SH-60B armed helicopters. Raytheon's AN/AAS-44(V) system is a high-performance, multi-purpose thermal imaging and tracking system which provides long-range surveillance, target acquisition, tracking, range-finding and laser designation.
