Bothell receives DARPA award to integrate virtual retinal display technology into armored vehicles

17 Jun 2002

Microvision, Inc. (Bothell, Washington) has received a Phase I contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to explore the integration of Microvision's virtual retinal display technology in armored vehicles. Microvision will provide a design plan for a head-worn display which will deliver a full 360-degree panoramic view of the battlespace while allowing personnel to remain in the vehicle. The six-month study will investigate head-tracking, sensors and human factors in glass turret applications and may produce a follow-on prototype development.
