Siemens Semiconductors spun off to become Infineon Technologies

Siemens Semiconductors, which had been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens AG (Munich, Germany), has been spun off to become a legally separate entity. The company is now called Infineon Technologies AG and has headquarters in Munich. Infineon provides highly-integrated system ICs, memory and high-frequency components, smartcard ICs, discrete semiconductors, power ICs, sensors, and fiberoptic components.
