Raytheon demonstrates tactical air traffic control system

Raytheon Company (Lexington, Massachusetts, United States) successfully demonstrated its new Air Traffic Navigation, Integration and Coordination System (ATNAVICS) tactical radar approach control system, which provides full surveillance out to 25 nautical miles and precision approach coverage out to 10 nautical miles in all weather conditions. The demonstration using both scheduled aircraft and targets of opportunity included flight testing of radar coverage, accuracy, resolution, detection and tracking for the system which includes an S-band air surveillance radar, an L-band secondary surveillance radar, and an X-band precision approach radar.
