FAA taps Northrop Grumman for Radar Weather Detection program

17 Jun 2002

Northrop Grumman Corporation's Electronic Sensors and Systems Sector (Baltimore, Maryland, United States) has been selected by the Federal Aviation Administration for a $49 million contract to develop and produce the Airport Surveillance Radar-Weather Systems Processor (ASR-WSP) program. Initially 5 ASR-WSP systems will be built and tested followed by full production of up to 37 systems. The new processor will enable the detection of windshear and microburst conditions and will also integrate new software algorithms into a core commercial processor.
