Raytheon receives $107.5 million contract for thermal imaging systems

17 Jun 2002

The U.S. Army has awarded a multi-year, $107.5 contract to Raytheon Systems Company for production of Thermal Weapon Sights and Driver's Vision Enhancers. The Driver's Vision Enhancer is a thermal imager for combat and tactical wheeled vhicles which incorporates uncooled focal plane array technology, while Thermal Weapon Sight is an infrared sight which is light enough for use on rifles and other infantry weapons. The contract also includes an option for the development and production of a lighter-weight version of Thermal Weapon Sight which weighs under three pounds. Options for additional production bring the total potential value of the contract to approximately $500 million.
