LanOptics, RADLAN sign joint development agreement

LanOptics Ltd. and RADLAN Computer Communications Ltd. have signed a joint development agreement for a new generation of multi-layer Ethernet routing switches. The strategic partnership between the two Israeli companies calls for the joint development of a new ASIC-based Layer 3 routing switch. LanOptics will provide the Layer 2 technology, VLAN support, and management, while RADLAN will provide the Layer 3 routing technology. Each ASIC will peform fast packet forwarding at rates of up to 2,000,000 packets per second.
