Galaxy satellite now transmitting DTV to Latin America

The Galaxy VIII-i satellite has commenced commercial transmissions of the Galaxy Latin America direct-to-home television service. The PanAmSat satellite allows Galaxy Latin America to migrate its transmission signals from Galaxy III-R, which has 24 Ku-band transponders as its interim transmission platform, to Galaxy VIII-i, which has 32 Ku-band transponders.
