Jenoptik AG to exit optical equipment business

Jenoptik AG has announced that it will end its 150-year history in optics within the next three to five years due to strong competition from Asia. Jenoptik, formerly part of the East German state-run Kombanat VEG Carl Zeiss Jena, has pursued the cleanroom-technology market since German reunification and optics now only represents about 5% of the company's business.(courtesy Laser Focus World)
