Boeing has successfully completed production acceptance testing on the first two Boeing 767 Airborne Warning and Control (AWACS) aircraft. The U.S. Air Force, which oversees the AWACS test program, concurs that the systems are working as designed to meet the airborne surveillance requirements. The testing, which began in August, inculded radar, identification friend-or-foe electronics, navigation, computers/displays, mission systems, and communication systems performance. Boeing will deliver two 767 AWACS to Japan in March with two more 767 AWACS going to Japan in 1999.
