USPS beta testing barcode readers

The United States Postal Service is undergoing beta tests of improvements to its Automated Barcode Evaluator (ABE) at 10 to 12 USPS sites. The betatesting is expected to be completed in time for the USPS to take advantage of the improvements early next year. ABE, which captures barcode images andcompares them to various specifications representing acceptable standards, can verify that mailings meet USPS requirements and also has the capability tocheck the accuracy of content such as address.
