Light Solutions Corp. has developed a laser which emits up to 4 watts continuous-wave output at 532 nm. The device, originally intended for the U.S. Army, has a diode-laser-output-to-green conversion efficiency of 30%. The neodymium-doped vanadate laser is battery-powered (it was intended to be weapon-mounted) by a torpedo battery, about the size of a commercial "D" battery but with a higher current capability. The use of potassium titanyl phosphate allowed doubling capability, and the duty cycle of two minutes on and two minutes off eliminated the need for active cooling. The battery power lasts for about 20 minutes.
