Corning forms new photonics division

Corning (Corning, NY) has formed a new operating division, Photonic Technologies Division, within its communications segment. The division, formerly known asthe Components Products Business of the Opto-Electronics Group, designs, develops, and manufactures optical devices used in communications systems. Thegroup's manufacturing operations will be housed in the new $40 million, 200,000-sq ft optical-components-manufacturing plant Corning is building in Erwin, NY.
