Teledyne Brown files suit against Gryphon

17 Jun 2002

Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE, Huntsville, AL) has filed suit in federal court in the northern district of Alabama seeking to enjoin six former employees and diffractive optics start-up company Gryphon Optics (Huntsville, AL) from taking and using TBE trade secrets.

"Teledyne Brown Engineering has invested a significant amount of time and energy in developing its diffractive optics business and has to take measures to protect that from any competition," says current TBE manager of electro-optic products Greg Hambright.

"Gryphon Optics employees and contractors have not utilized and have no intention of utilizing any Teledyne Brown Engineering trade secrets, confidential, or otherwise proprietary information," counters Gryphon president Paul Fileger. Gryphon was formed to address the custom and OEM diffractive optics market by Fileger after he resigned as TBE electro-optical products group manager.
