Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories has awarded WYKO a three-year, $6 million contract for the design and development of large- aperture phase-shifting measurement systems for the National Ignition Facility (NIF).
The instruments will measure the homogeneity of transmitted and reflected wavefronts of the large optical components of the 192 laser-beam lines used in the NIF project. The largest test aperture in the system will have a diameter of 600 mm for testing 780 x 430-mm parts. Additional 100-mm subaperture testing will be incorporated for testing anywhere within the full aperture of the large parts.
